About the Course
In this introductory workshop, participants will be exposed to basic stage combat concepts such as footwork, safety, and partnered exercises. These exercises form the foundations of a short choreography where the performers will experience logical character actions/reactions, how to convincingly portray pain, and inflict staged violence safely using the tricks-of-the-trade.
By the end of the session, all will perform a partnered choreography in a mini-showcase.
Nusantara Theatrics commits itself to creating an inclusive, brave, and empowering space to explore familiar and original narratives relevant to the region’s past, present, and imagined future. We dedicate ourselves to the development and education of artistry, storytelling, and theatrical meaning-making through an emergent pedagogy that uplifts play and creative individuality.
Like the waterways, seas, and ever-shifting islands that make up the Nusantara, NT will foster and contribute to a community of collaboration and a culture of continuous evolution, revision, and trade.
